Have you ever paused, right in the middle of your busy daily routine, and asked yourself,

“Why am I really doing this?”
Not the superficial but the deeper one. The one that tugs at your heart and refuses to let go.

That question found me too, years ago, during a quiet moment, even as I was ascending steadily in my banking career. I had a stable job, professional respect, and a clear path ahead. On the surface, everything seemed perfect. Yet, deep within, I realized that I felt most alive not while achieving targets, but when I was training, guiding, and helping others grow.
A silent flame , my “why” was beginning to light a path I hadn’t yet fully dared to walk. That quiet realization marked a powerful turning point.

I went on to have a long, fulfilling journey in the banking sector, eventually retiring after decades of service. I truly cherished the opportunities provided by my esteemed bank. There were triumphs and challenges, highs and lows, unforgettable experiences and difficult days. Yet, through it all, I never lost my focus.

Looking back, I realize it was the discovery of my purpose that kept me anchored.
It was a combination of dedicated customer service, unwavering loyalty to the institution, and a heartfelt passion for the work itself.
These pillars allowed me to enjoy every moment — even those shadowed by difficulty or personal pain.

I lived by a timeless teaching from the Bhagavad Gita:

“Do your duty without attachment to the fruits of action.”
We are bound to love our work and discharge our duties with sincerity and passion regardless of the outcome. Sometimes, results may not seem proportional to our efforts, but that must never diminish our spirit.

I retired during the unsettling period when COVID-19 swept across the world, bringing life to a sudden standstill.
The once-brisk rhythm of managing teams, engaging with customers, resolving conflicts, and building relationships ground to a halt. Even simple pleasures like walking outside became forbidden luxuries. Fear loomed, and life retreated behind closed doors.

Yet, even in that silence, another passion stirred within me , a passion for training, mentoring, and creative exploration.
Confined at home, I turned inward: reading books, reflecting, and visualizing a future I had once only dreamed of. I envisioned myself teaching, speaking, creating, and inspiring.

One book in particular, The Power of the Subconscious Mind, left a profound impact.
It taught me the strength of visualizing with conviction . and remarkably, those visualizations soon began to manifest.
I was offered a faculty position at a prestigious state cooperative bank, where I could fully channel my love for training and development.

It was as though the universe had simply been waiting for me to listen to my own inner calling.

Today, as the voice behind Clear The Maze – Decode the Best in You, I continue that journey , helping others find their spark, just as I found mine.
Purpose is not a destination. It is a light that illuminates the path, one meaningful step at a time.

Purpose and passion-know the difference

Purpose is your compass — it gives your life direction.
Passion is your flame — it energizes and excites you.

Many chase success without truly understanding their purpose.
Passion without purpose can lead to burnout.
Purpose without passion can feel dry and mechanical.
But when the two align?
They become unstoppable forces, driving fulfillment, resilience, and lasting success.

Pursuing a career without discovering your purpose often feels burdensome and ultimately unrewarding.
On the other hand, when you identify your purpose and align your actions with it, work transforms . it becomes meaningful, enriching, and joyful.

When we are anchored in our purpose, we naturally seek ways to overcome obstacles rather than be daunted by them.
Our passion fuels us, giving energy even in moments of distress and uncertainty.

Sometimes, it’s our evolving needs — the desire for growth, contribution, or self-actualization that push us to seek and find our true purpose.

Purpose gives meaning.
Passion gives momentum.
Together, they create a life not just of achievement, but of deep, lasting fulfillment.

Light Your inner fire

Take a few quiet moments and ask yourself:

  1. What activities make me lose track of time because I love doing them so much?
    (This reveals your passions.)
  1. When do I feel most fulfilled — as if what I am doing truly matters?
    (This points to your purpose.)
  1. If success and money were guaranteed, what would I choose to do every day?
(This uncovers both passion and purpose combined.)
  1. What problems or causes deeply move me to take action?
(Purpose often lies in what you long to improve.)

🖊️ Action Tip:
Write down your answers. Patterns will start to emerge — and those patterns are your inner compass.

Why Does This Matter So Much?

Studies show that people with a strong sense of purpose are more resilient, more focused, and even physically healthier. But beyond the science they’re simply fulfilled.

Purpose makes hard work meaningful.
Passion makes it joyful.
Together, they create a life of alignment and inner satisfaction.

Five steps to discover your purpose and passion

  1. Reflect on What Energizes You:
When do you feel most alive, most present? What are the activities that make time fly?
  1. Revisit Childhood Dreams:
What did you love to do as a child, before the world told you what you should be?
  1. Identify What Moves You:
What problems in the world upset you — or inspire you to act?
  1. Notice Your Flow Moments:
Think of moments where your skills and joy were in harmony. What were you doing?
  1. Ask the Legacy Question:
If someone gave a speech about you years from now, what would you want them to say?

A glimpse from my journey

My Journey to Purpose: From Rural Roots to Guiding Light

The first eleven years of my career were spent in the heart of rural India, serving in junior management roles in remote, hardship-classified areas. These were regions where even public transport was rare, and finding a tea stall could be a challenge. Yet, despite the lack of comforts and amenities, those years remain some of the most enriching and purpose-driven chapters of my life.

I was posted in bank branches that catered to nearly 35 villages, where farmers, artisans, and micro-entrepreneurs formed the soul of our customer base. These individuals, often walking several kilometres, came to us with hope — to open savings accounts, seek support for their agricultural needs, or fund their small businesses. Our branches were lifelines in areas deeply affected by extremism, but that never deterred us from doing our work. In fact, it fueled our resolve.

Despite personal hardships — limited facilities, physical isolation, and security risks — I never saw my challenges as greater than those of the communities I served. If anything, their resilience inspired me. Their warmth, hospitality, and unwavering trust left an indelible mark on me. Even today, I continue to receive calls and messages from customers I served decades ago — a testament to the bond we built on sincerity and shared respect.

What made those years special was not just the work, but the culture of integrity, mutual trust, and cohesive teamwork. I discovered the joy of building strong teams, resolving conflicts, and nurturing interpersonal connections. Over the years, I worked across rural, semi-urban, metropolitan, and cosmopolitan regions — each geography teaching me something new about people, leadership, and myself.

One lesson stood out: emotional intelligence (EQ) is not optional , it’s essential. Without judicious EQ, it’s easy to get frustrated or burnt out, even under minor stress. The ability to adapt, empathize, and lead through diversity is what helped me thrive.

As I progressed, one passion kept growing stronger , training and mentoring. To refine this, I underwent a Training of Trainers program and became a certified professional for financial cooperatives. Training is never a one-way street ,while we impart knowledge, we also learn immensely, especially when engaging with diverse trainers and participants.

But it was during those sessions — helping others discover their potential that I experienced true alignment. That’s when I found my Ikigai , the sweet spot where my passion, mission, vocation, and profession meet.

That realization shaped my second journey — not just as a banker, but as a trainer, a mentor, and now, a voice behind Clear The Maze – Decode the Best in You.

“It’s not just continuous learning that empowers me ,it’s also the ability to unlearn, to let go of outdated beliefs and grow with fresh perspective.”

My purpose is to help others clear the maze and unlock their potential
My passion is witnessing that spark of clarity ignite in someone’s eyes.

And that is what keeps me going.

A Gentle Challenge for You

Take 15 quiet minutes today. No distractions. Just you, a pen, and your thoughts. Ask yourself:

  • “What really matters to me?”
  • “What am I doing when I feel most alive?”
  • “What do I want to be remembered for?”

Write down one sentence that reflects your why. Stick it somewhere visible. Let it guide your decisions and anchor your energy.

You don’t have to figure everything out today. But the moment you begin asking the right questions, your journey toward purpose and passion truly begins.
